Who we are

Comments

When visitors post comments on the site, we collect the data entered into the form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser details to help detect spam.

An anonymised hash based on your email address may be provided to Gravatar to determine whether you are using the service. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile image will appear publicly alongside your comment.

Media

Please avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS), as others may download and extract this information.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, your name, email and website may be stored in cookies for convenience. These cookies will last for one year.

When visiting the login page, we place a temporary cookie to check your browser’s cookie support. It holds no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Upon login, several cookies are saved for login credentials and screen preferences. Login cookies last for two days, and screen option cookies last for one year. If you choose ‘Remember Me’, your login persists for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.

When editing or publishing an article, another cookie is saved in your browser. It contains no personal data and simply stores the post ID. It expires after one day.

Embedded content

Posts may contain embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles). These behave exactly as though you visited the originating website.

Those websites may collect your data, set cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interactions.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

Comments and associated metadata are retained indefinitely. For registered users, their data is stored in their profile and can be edited or deleted at any time (except the username).

Your rights

You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you or request that we erase it, excluding data retained for legal, security, or administrative obligations.

Where your data is sent

Comments may be scanned by automated anti-spam services.
